Chicco (pronounced KEY-ko) has a 65-year history as one of Europe’s major juvenile products makers. Along with Peg Perego, Chicco is one of Europe’s biggest baby gear brands. One difference between the two: Chicco strollers are made in China; Peg strollers are made in Italy.
Chicco was started by Pietro Catelli in Como, Italy in 1958 and is named after his son, Enrico. His nickname was Chicco.
Castelli first sold diapers in Italy before selling rubber pacifiers (Chicco's first product). Chicco is part of the Artsana Group, which was founded by Catelli in 1946 as a seller of syringes and thermometers. Artsana also owns the baby gear brands Boppy and Recaro.
Chicco divides its strollers into five categories: full-size, lightweight, jogging, double and frame strollers.
Flagship model: Mini Bravo Plus

Safety Recalls
While Chicco has had a recall on a high chair in 2010 and couple of toys in the 1980's and 90's, there have been no recalls of Chicco strollers as of this writing.
Do Chicco strollers have flame retardants?
In a statement on its website, Chicco said that all Chicco strollers "do not use flame retardants."
The company does market a series of car seats and one stroller (the Corso Primo) as part of its ClearTex line. "ClearTex® fabric features no added chemicals for child comfort and parent peace of mind," said the company.[1] "ClearTex® utilizes an innovative construction of polyester fibers to produce fabrics that are inherently fire-resistant (and gentle on baby),no additional chemical fire retardants necessary."
In 2022, a class action lawsuit was filed against Chicco for the use of flame retardants in their car seats. [2]
Do Chicco strollers go on sale?
Chicco strollers are sold widely in the U.S., both in chain stores like Target and specialty stores. The strollers are also sold online on sites like Amazon and Walmart. Given their wide distribution, Chicco strollers are frequently discounted during Black Friday sales as well as during Amazon Prime Day. While not all models go on sale during these events, it is not uncommon to see discounts on several popular models during these sales.
