Larktale started in Australia in 2014 as a maker of lightweight strollers. Founded by Simon Whiston, Larktale's first two strollers, the Coast and the Chit Chat, were "designed to fill a gap in the market for a range of prams and strollers that look great; are highly maneuverable, strong and light; with design features that make a big difference to mums’ lives; and take up less space." [1]
In 2019, Larktale was bought by Dynamic Brands, the company behind Baby Jogger's turnaround and subsequent sale to Graco. The company then expanded Larktale's line into stroller wagons and moved the company to Richmond, Virginia. (All Larktale strollers are made in China).
The name Larktale is a combination of lark, meaning something done for fun, and tale as in adventure. Hence the strollers are designed to "(help) create fun adventures."
The company divides its strollers into two parts: stroller wagons and lightweight, compact strollers.
Flagship model: the Sprout
The Larktale Sprout (50 lbs., see price on Amazon) is touted as the first-of-its-kind, size-adjustable wagon. It converts from a single seat to a double by extending the chassis (no tools needed) and adding a second seat. You can also extend it and add a mesh cargo divider to carry toys or groceries.

While the Sprout is spacious for only one child (40 x 28 x 48"), the expanded size (48 x 48 x 45") may be a bit tight. The second seat does not recline, hence this wagon may be best for children of different ages rather than twins.
Other Stroller Wagons: Caravan, Caravan Coupe, Crossover
With a 200 lb. weight capacity, Larktale's Caravan Stroller/Wagon (38.8lbs., see price on Amazon) has two multi-position reclining seats, unlike the Sprout. It also includes a drop-down footwell which can be covered over by zipping down one of the two seats. It can then be used for carrying cargo instead of kids. An additional Double Seats Kit (sold as an accessory) expands the carry capacity to four children. Included are two independent canopies, a height adjustable leatherette handlebar, cup holder, rubber wheels, all-wheel suspension and storage basket and parent organizer. Fabrics are removable and washable.
The Larktale Caravan Coupe (39.8 lbs., see price on Amazon) is a smaller version of the Caravan, with a more compact fold (36.5 x 25 x 16"). It retains the two reclining seats and footwell, height adjustable leatherette handle and all-wheel suspension, as well as parent console.
Rounding out the stroller wagon category, Larktale's Crossover Convertible Stroller/Wagon (27.5 lbs., see price on Amazon) morphs from a full size stroller to a one or two-seat wagon without tools. The company includes both the second seat and the pull-handle at no additional charge. Unlike the Caravan wagons, the Crossover has only one sun canopy but includes the leatherette handle bar, bumper bar, snack tray, mesh cargo divider, organizer and all-wheel suspension as well as lots of storage.
The Crossover converts in a unique way: the seat reclines down, then you raise the foot area to create a bassinet type frame which then rotates to lay flat (see video that shows how it works). The Crossover does not have a footwell; instead it has a large storage basket underneath.
Strollers: Chit Chat, Chit Chat Plus, Coast, Autofold
When Larktale first launched in Australia, the brand started with two models: the Chit Chat and the Coast. The new owners kept these models and added two brand new models to the line.
The Chit Chat is sold as a lightweight travel stroller (14.5 lbs., see price on Amazon) with a small footprint. It comes with a padded, reclining seat, sun canopy with visor, front-wheel suspension and two-handed trigger fold to a standing position. The handlebar has a soft grip, allows for one-hand steering and includes a wrist strap plus a flip flop friendly foot brake. Storage includes a mesh seat back pocket, cup holder and waterproof under basket. The plastic-y frame is a turn off for some parents, although the it is made from recyclable materials to appeal to eco-conscious parents.
The Chit Chat Plus (14.5 lbs., see price on Amazon) builds on the Chit Chat by adding a full recline with newborn foot barrier, bumper bar and snack tray, carry strap, extendable canopy and newborn "head hugger."
The Coast (21.2 lbs., see price on Amazon) has a patented, double trigger fold called the Compac3™ 3D-fold. Its folded size is 26.2 x 23.6 x 13.2" and the stroller automatically locks. Additional features include a telescoping handlebar, bumper bar and snack tray, near flat reclining seat with infant foot barrier for use from birth, mesh seat top, cup holder, mesh pockets, under stroller basket, wrist tether, large canopy and adjustable footrest.
Larktale's Autofold (19.8 lbs., see price on Amazon) is a full-feature stroller with an automatic fold. To fold it, "press the fold triggers and flip the handlebar forward to watch the autofold™ quickly fold down, using kinetic energy, into a compact, easy-to-carry standing package."[2] The Autofold is similar to the Coast with the addition of lockable front wheels, a carry strap, canopy extension and lock mechanism for use when folded.
Does Larktale offer a military discount?
